An Apology

I would like to apologise for the inconsistency in my uploads lately, though it's very likely you didn't even notice. I'm trying for over a year now to upload one video per day and if I failed to do so in the past, that was mostly because I didn't have any new videos recorded. For several months now I have been in a state of constant employment, which (surprisingly for me) had a positive rather than a negative effect on the consistency of my LPing channel. I plan ahead and record more often, so that I always have some spare episodes left.

However, the last few weeks have also been very stressful for me personally. It was partly due to my work, but mainly because of some other reasons concerning my so called 'professional life' and my hobby on YouTube. Things didn't quite go as planned and I felt quite blue about it more and more often. Today, things peaked. I received a pretty tough blow regarding my past and future life that might well affect the upcoming years severely. I am extremely disappointed in myself and the institution involved.
There is a good side, though. With this thing cleared (even though with the worst possible outcome) I finally can free my mind for once and relax for the upcoming holidays.

Hope you guys had a better time than me. See you around in the comments!

A Drunk Pirate

I decided to go for a little experiment in my ongoing Risen 2 Let's Play, starting at episode -085-. I always liked to have a little drink while recording my video games, but now I had the idea of making it an active part of my roleplay. Here's the deal: my character - the nameless hero - turned out to be a drunkard after the first Risen game was finished. He drank so much that he lost all his knowledge and skills and it's surprising that he can actually still remember most of the events and people from Faranga (island of Risen 1). So when Patty, his old friend, showed up and told him to save the world once more, he was greatly encouraged to stop binge-drinking and instead man up and do what needed to be done. Unfortunately, I now came to a point in the game, where ALL his so-called friends seemed to have turned their backs on the nameless hero, leavin him to rot on a little island full of monsters. Since the only thing he had left now was his little collection of rum bottles, he decided that it couldn't get any worse.
So my character is back to being an alcoholic. Whenever something exciting happens to him, he feels the urgent need to take a sip. And since he also drinks during fights or at any other point when he needs some healing, that's quite an amount of alcohol running through his system. And here comes the fun part: whenever he takes a drink, I have to do so, too! Of course my liver couldn't hope to match his skills at emptying entire rum bottles, so I settled for a generous gulp of wine instead everytime my character gets itchy fingers.
The first set of videos with this new system went hilariously well. I did not achieve any more than usual, but it felt like it and I had great fun playing the role of a drunk pirate.

The Return of Garrett

After the spectacular end of Thief Gold I was very much looking forward to its successor: Thief 2 - The Metal Age. It took me a while to get it running, though. The usual technical problem occured where I couldn't record cutscenes and briefing screens. That was fixed quite quickly, though and I did a few test recordings, trying to figure out whether I should go for a 16:9 aspect ratio or stick with the old-school 4:3. Another issue is the gamma. This game is way darker than the first Thief and even on the highest gamma settings, only I can see properly, while Fraps will turn the video into the shadowy nightmare of every viewer. I'm curious about the reactions.
